| Sandra Brown |

Sandra brings over five years of professional experience to the tutoring table.
Originally from Tampa, Florida, Sandra attended Wilson Middle School and Plant
High School – where she first discovered a love for mathematics and signs of a
natural teaching ability. She tutored several fellow classmates in high school,
and also worked closely with the math competition teams as a coach and
participant. Sandra attended Rice University in Houston, Texas to pursue her
Bachelors degree in Psychology (with several math and business classes on the
side!) and completed a Masters in Human Resource Management as well. She spent
three years working at Advantage Testing of Houston, Inc., where she received
professional training on the best practices of tutoring and gained a solid
understanding of the structure, test strategies, and subject matter covered on
the PSAT, SAT and ACT.

In 2007, Sandra founded Blue Owl Tutoring after working with several students
in the Tampa Bay area. With a perfect score (800 in math!) under her belt and a
strong faith in her teaching ability, Sandra loves to help her students realize
their own potential while building academic confidence and mathematic
knowledge. Sandra’s students see typical score increases anywhere from 50 to
150 points!
On a personal note, Sandra is an avid reader and very athletic! She enjoys
training for triathlons and running events, as well as participating annually
in the MS-150 cycling tour in Central Florida.

| Danielle MacDonald |
 |
Danielle is originally from a small horse and fern town known as Barberville,
Florida. At the young age of seven, Danielle decided she would follow in her
mother’s footsteps and become a teacher. After tutoring several classmates in
high school, Danielle realized that her teaching interest would grow in the
direction of high school math education. Danielle first attended Florida State
University (GO NOLES!) and in 2006 transferred to the University of Tampa where
she is now in her senior year, majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education.
Teaching is Danielle's passion and she is very confident that she can make a
difference in her students’ math scores, while being a positive influence in
their lives! She believes that building her student’s confidence is essential
and goes hand-and-hand with teaching mathematical skills.

Danielle is a National Champion volleyball player at the University of Tampa.
She is also engaged and will be getting married in December of 2008. In
addition to math, Danielle loves volleyball, her horses and dogs, and enjoys
reading!

| Emily LeBlanc |
 |
Emily is originally from Lynn, Massachusetts, a small city about twenty minutes
north of Boston. It was during high school that she discovered a love for math,
and after tutoring several of her classmates she developed a passion for
teaching. Emily is currently in her junior year at the University of Tampa,
majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education. She has two years of tutoring
experience and also tutors fellow classmates in the university tutoring center,
specializing in College Algebra and Calculus!
Emily is enthusiastic about working with students and strongly believes she can
help them improve their math skills, confidence, and self-esteem. She believes
that it is essential to provide students with a safe learning environment, and
a strong foundation in order to prepare them for success.

In her free time, Emily enjoys reading fiction novels, dancing, and skiing. She
loves animals and recently adopted two kittens. Emily is excited to instill a
passion for learning in her students!

| Brandie Waid |
 |
Brandie is originally from Lake Wales, Florida, known for its beautiful
botanical gardens at the Historic Bok Sanctuary. At the age of fifteen, Brandie
was enrolled in an Algebra II class at Lake Wales High School. With the help
and encouragement of her amazing teacher, she discovered that math was not some
cruel, unusual punishment, but if taught appropriately, could be beautiful and
exciting. It was in that classroom, that Brandie decided to pursue a career in
mathematics education.
Brandie is currently a senior at the University of Tampa, majoring in both
Mathematics and Secondary Mathematics Education. At the university’s tutoring
center, she serves as the primary tutor for all Calculus and Higher Mathematics
courses. Other than the field of mathematics, Brandie’s interests lie in
athletics such as basketball and running, literature, and spending time with
her family.

every student has the potential to learn, which if nurtured and encouraged,
will blossom into true ability. Brandie hopes that by being a positive

| Corey Perich |

Corey is originally from Manchester, New Hampshire, a growing city about 45
minutes north of Boston. Having a father in the field of education, Corey
developed a desire to follow in his footsteps and found that he really enjoys
teaching as well! Corey is currently majoring in Mathematics at the University
of Tampa, and he has tutored many fellow students while pursuing his degree.
Corey is new to Blue Owl Tutoring, and he feels that he can bring a lot of
excitement and passion to the students he tutors. Corey strives to be a great
role model and has made it a goal to instill his passion for math into each of
his students.
Aside of tutoring, Corey loves most sports including Baseball, Football and
Soccer. Go Red Sox!!

| Patrick Johnston |

Patrick is originally from Smithtown, New York, which is located in the middle of Long Island about an hour from Manhattan. Ever since he was in the eighth grade, Patrick knew that he wanted to become a math teacher. It has always been is favorite subject, and he has tutored other students since his sophomore year in high school which only deepened his interest in math. Patrick is a transfer student from Stony Brook University on Long Island, and he is now studying at the University of Tampa, majoring in Mathematics.
Patrick feels that math is an essential subject in everyone's lives. He believes that building a good foundation in math will help his students improve their work in other studies as well. He hopes to not only improve their skills in math, but build their confidence in and outside of the classroom.
Outside of his studies, Patrick loves to go to the beach, surfing, staying in shape, and is also an avid reader. His goal is to influence his students to become interested in math just as much as he is!

| Mary Schroeder |

Mary Wharton Schroeder, college entrance exam tutor and educational planner,
has served over 25 years in education. She has been a classroom teacher, a
private tutor, and has volunteered her talents in high school college planning
offices. She maintains a private practice tutoring students for the Critical
Reading and Written portions of the SAT as well as the ACT college entrance
exam.
A native of Tampa, she led the educational committee that established the
learning curriculum for the children at Metropolitan Ministries. Mrs. Schroeder
also taught illiterate adults to read through the Laubach Literacy Association
during her active years with the Junior League of Tampa and was featured as an
exceptional volunteer by Tampa NBC-TV-affiliate WFLA. While teaching in the
DeKalb County School System in Atlanta, Georgia, she was featured as an
outstanding teacher in a Redbook magazine article entitled "Are There Any Good
Teachers Left?"

Mrs. Schroeder is a graduate of Florida State University with majors in
Education and English. She has worked on her Master of Educational Leadership
at Oglethorpe University and the University of South Florida. She is staying
current on the changes in university and college admissions policies through
frequent travel to campuses with IECA (Independent Educational Consultants
Association) members. She adheres to IECA’s Principles of Good Practice.

| Margaret Gandy |

Margaret Gandy began her college consulting career as the Guidance Resource
Specialist at H.B. Plant High School, where she designed the positions and
served for 18 years! With her information and guidance, students were accepted
at the most prestigious colleges and universities, each of the military
academies as well as all other levels of academic and technical settings. A
large number of these students financed their education through scholarships
amounting in the millions with others adding financial support through
government programs. Margaret holds a B.S. degree from Florida State University
and an M.R.E. degree from Duke University. She is a member of the Southern
Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC) and National Association
for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). Margaret has presented several
workshops including "Funding through Scholarships" and "Volunteers in the
College Resource Room" for SACAC, "Choosing a Major" for NACAC, and co-chaired
with the Federal Trade Commission a session on "Scholarships without Scams".

| Britt Arvidson |

Britt Arvidson is a certified Pre-K through 5th grade teacher. Originally from
Chicago, Britt recently relocated to South Tampa and is very excited to call
the area home! Britt attended Purdue University and received her Bachelor’s
Degree in Elementary Education. Over the past six years Britt has taught
preschool, first, second, and fourth grade. She has had the amazing privilege
of working with children for over 15 years as a teacher, nanny, camp counselor,
tutor, and mentor.
Britt specializes in elementary age tutoring in the areas of Reading, Writing,
Math, Social Studies and Science, as well as Reading Readiness for preschool
age children. As a tutor, Britt strives to reach each individual student at
their level, motivate them, and find creative ways to help them develop a love
for life-long learning. Her passion is to encourage children to explore the
world around them.
