As many of you know, Blue Owl Tutoring started with a one room office, and two students that found my information on a tutoring contact site online. I tutored math and SAT prep in my spare time in the evenings, and I dreamed that at some point maybe this passion for teaching would grow into a small company and I would be able to reach many students in my hometown of Tampa, Florida. This dream became a reality because of our amazing clients and client referrals! In addition to myself, we grew into a small group of math tutors that have been available to our students over the past five years, and we have helped hundreds of students improve their math grades and SAT scores!
Aside from our website, Blue Owl Tutoring never advertised services. We were found completely by word-of-mouth in Tampa, and we love that!! We have been so grateful for all of our clients and it has truly been a dream come true for me to see this company take off and grow. I would like to take this time to thank ALL OF YOU for recommending us to your friends, family, and neighbors. I feel very blessed to have been able to touch so many lives, and I have absolutely loved working with all of you!
Over the last few years, my personal life has gone through another amazing transition. I married my husband in March of 2010, and we had our first daughter in March of this year! My husband is a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. Sadly, I knew his commitment to serving "life" in the military meant that we would eventually have to leave Tampa. That time has come now, as we have been reassigned to an Air Force Base in Southern California. We are moving to California during this summer of 2011.
The decision on whether or not to try to keep Blue Owl open in my absence has been a very difficult decision to make. However, considering the limited availability of our tutors next year and the fact that I am going to be three time zones away, am so very sorry to report that I have decided to close Blue Owl Tutoring.
Our website is going to stay up for at least another year with important information. Please see the Contact page for contact information of the math tutors that I know in Tampa who are interested in tutoring next year. Several of our current tutors will still be living in the Tampa area and would love to continue working with their clients personally at home or in public libraries. As well, I have always referred students to Mary Schroeder for test preparation on the Reading Comprehension and Writing parts of the SAT and ACT. Mary will still be accepting students and working from her home in South Tampa as she always has. She can be reached at 813-340-4231.
