Sandra Brown Bockrath - Founder and Math Tutor
SAT and ACT Test Prep
Sandra Bockrath brings over 24 years of professional experience to the tutoring table. Originally from Tampa, Florida, she attended Plant High School, where she first discovered a love for mathematics and my natural teaching ability. She tutored friends and worked closely with the math competition teams as a coach and participant in Mu Alpha Theta.
Sandra attended Rice University in Houston, Texas to pursue a Bachelors degree in Psychology (with several math and business classes on the side!) and then completed a Masters in Human Resource Management from Houston Baptist University. While living in Houston, she spent a few years working at Advantage Testing of Houston, Inc., where she received professional training on the best practices of private tutoring and test prep. Advantage Testing gave Sandra a solid understanding of the structure, test strategies, and subject matter covered on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. She has now been teaching students how to approach these exams and reach their score goals for nearly 24 years! Sandra had a "perfect score" (800) on the math section of the SAT, and she has helped several of her students achieve this as well!
In 2007, Sandra founded Blue Owl Tutoring in her home town of Tampa, Florida. She has since moved all over the country due to her husband's job with the US Air Force, and she has had the pleasure of working with students during all of their assignments in California, Oklahoma, Delaware, and North Carolina.
Zaynah Khan - Middle and High School Math Tutor
Zaynah has been teaching math as a volunteer and private tutor for over four years, at the elementary, middle, and high school level. Zaynah has an extensive background in mathematics as she has already completed higher level Calculus courses! Zaynah provide your student with the foundation they need to succeed in their current and future math courses. As a current sophomore at Marvin Ridge High School, she has a lot of experience tutoring her peers and those in lower grade levels.
Zaynah's passion for mathematics and for teaching come together to help students gain confidence and build the skills they need to perform well in class. Firmly believing that foundational mathematics is the key to success in higher level mathematics, she emphasizes making sure that these skills in Math 1, 2, and 3 are well understood by her students.
Zaynah is attending Princeton University, and will have limited availability for Zoom lessons during the 2026-2027 school year.
Jonah Dembe - Math Tutor - Pre-Calculus and Calculus
Jonah Dembe is a recent graduate of UNC Charlotte with a degree in Mathematics. With a broad knowledge of mathematical concepts and a passion for teaching, Jonah is dedicated to helping students improve and excel in their studies. Some of Jonah's interests and hobbies include following the NFL, playing piano, and reading non-fiction. Jonah is available for Zoom lessons or to meet locally in Union County, and he is accepting students in Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. He is also very familiar with the NC Math 1-4 curriculum.

At Blue Owl Tutoring, our teaching philosophy is pretty straightforward:
Every student can be GOOD at math! There are multiple ways to explain things and we will bring an abundance of patience to the table when trying to help our students understand their coursework.
Tutoring sessions should be productive (and fun!) and students should always walk away from a tutoring session feeling like they accomplished something and with a greater sense of confidence!
We don't say "I can't do this" around here... you CAN be GREAT at MATH!
